Friday morning the Z Morning Rush indulged in a real Bacon Shake. The following is a video showing the reaction to the consumption of said Bacon Shake. No on air personalities were hurt in the making of this video. Well, at least not permanently.

It’s hard to believe that in a sporting event that gets 115 million pairs of eyeballs staring at it that the game itself usually takes a back seat to the entertainment that happens in between all the action. There’s the anthem at the beginning, the halftime show in the middle, and all those expensive commercials sprinkled in between.

And those commercials? In Canada, you may have missed all the fun, depending on who your TV provider is. But if you had the antenna or the US feed or you were partying South of the border, you got a plethora of funny. Yesterday on Ellen, Kristen Bell discussed a little meltdown she had when she got a sloth visit for her birthday party. (Side note: Never before in the history of recorded time has that sentence ever been written.) Have you EVER been like this over ANYTHING?!?!

Bueller? Bueller?!?! A COMMERCIAL??!?!

Last week there was a quick teaser video that showed Matthew Broderick opening the curtains and quoting a line from Ferris Bueller while familiar music played in the background. And for some the world became a magical place…COULD Ferris be making a comeback? Would he be gracing the big screen? Was it a sequel or a re-launching? My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Ferris shooting new scenes at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious. OMGILUVFERRISSOMUCHPLEASELMAOTTYL!!!

Yesterday, we finally got our answer:

Was it well done? Yes. They nailed a couple scenes nicely (the Walrus stare-down, the Panda in the car, the parade.) It was good to see Ferris being Ferris again, if only for a few minutes. But in all honesty, I felt dirty watching it. Here was Ferris, beloved 80s icon, the man who raged against the machine, selling me his car, stomach protruding between the lap belt and shoulder belt, his hair slightly disheveled, an older, somewhat less “Buellerish” version of his former glory. Staring back at me from the computer screen was a hero and idol to many, now a shade of his former self. A slap-in-the-face reality check: Everyone gets older. It wasn’t how I remembered Ferris. It made me sad.

Than again, it’s just a commercial. And even though I don’t want to rush out and buy a car, I do want to watch Ferris Bueller’s Day Off again. Partial credit, Bueller.

SAG Awards Fashion: Lea Michele vs Angelina Jolie
